Trade show organisers across Europe are tightening their sustainability requirements — and the stand floor is one of the biggest single sources of event waste. Disstands offers the answer: 100% recyclable exhibition carpet with official factory distribution as pioneers in Catalonia.
What makes this carpet different
Conventional exhibition carpet is used for a few days and sent to landfill. Our eco range is manufactured to be fully recyclable: after the show, the material re-enters the production cycle instead of becoming waste. It offers the same practical qualities exhibitors expect — fast installation, comfortable finish, consistent colour — plus the Bfl-s1 fire certification required by Spanish and European venues.
- 100% recyclable — the whole product, not just a percentage of fibres.
- Competitive pricing — sustainability without a premium price. Quote on request.
- Bfl-s1 certified — passes venue fire inspections across Europe.
- Wide colour range — including jaspe (marbled) tones that hide traffic marks during multi-day shows.
- Documentation for organisers — we provide the recyclability certificates your event's sustainability team asks for.
Post-show collection and recycling
For events in Barcelona and, by arrangement, elsewhere in Spain, we offer a collection service after the show: our team removes the carpet from your stand and channels it into the recycling stream. Your brand gets a genuinely circular floor — and evidence of it for your own ESG reporting.
Who is it for?
The recyclable range is our recommendation for exhibitors at shows with environmental charters (increasingly common at Fira de Barcelona, IFEMA and major European venues), for brands with public sustainability commitments, and for organisers furnishing aisles and common areas who want to cut the event's waste footprint at the source. It has become one of our best-selling products — many clients switch for the sustainability and stay for the price.
The waste problem hiding under every stand
Think about what a trade fair floor is: material manufactured, transported, installed, walked on for three or four days — and then ripped out at full speed on dismantling night. Multiply that by thousands of stands and dozens of shows a year, and the exhibition industry generates a river of short-life flooring waste. Organisers know it, venues know it, and their sustainability charters are starting to say it out loud: exhibitors are being asked to justify the materials they bring in. The floor, as the single largest surface on the stand, is the most visible place to start — and, conveniently, one of the easiest to fix.
Conventional vs recyclable exhibition carpet
| Conventional carpet | Recyclable eco carpet | |
|---|---|---|
| After the show | Landfill or incineration | Collected and reprocessed as raw material |
| Material design | Mixed layers, hard to separate | Mono-material, recycling-ready |
| Fire certification | Bfl-s1 | Bfl-s1 |
| Look and installation | Standard | Identical on the stand |
| Organiser sustainability charters | Increasingly questioned | Documented compliance |
| ESG reporting value | None | Documented waste-reduction action |
How the recycling loop actually works
"Recyclable" only matters if the material actually gets recycled, so it is worth explaining the loop. The carpet is manufactured as a mono-material product: because it is not a sandwich of incompatible layers, it can be reprocessed without the costly separation step that disqualifies most conventional carpet from recycling. After your event, the used carpet is collected, baled and returned to the production cycle as raw material for new products. Nothing about this changes how the carpet behaves on the stand — it cuts, lays and wears like a conventional exhibition carpet, and visitors will not notice any difference. What changes is what happens on the last night of the show: instead of joining the skip queue behind the hall, the floor leaves as feedstock.
What to tell your organiser (and your ESG team)
Sustainability teams ask predictable questions, and we prepare the answers in advance: material composition, recyclability certification, and — when we handle collection — confirmation that the carpet from your stand entered the recycling stream. For exhibitors reporting under corporate ESG frameworks, that final point matters most: it converts a purchasing decision into a documented waste-reduction action with your stand's m² attached to it. If your organiser runs a sustainability charter or awards programme (increasingly common at major European shows), this documentation slots straight into the submission.
Colours and finish
The recyclable range covers the tones stands actually use — corporate greys, blues, reds, greens, black and a strong selection of jaspe (marbled) finishes that hide traffic marks during multi-day shows. If your brand demands an exact shade, ask us to check the closest match in the range; we send physical samples before you commit, because screen colours lie and stand lighting lies even more.
Beyond trade fairs: congresses, offices and pop-ups
Although the range was born for exhibition halls, the same logic applies anywhere flooring lives a short life. Congress organisers use it for registration areas and temporary auditorium layouts; event agencies specify it for brand activations and pop-up retail where the fit-out lasts weeks, not years; and companies staging temporary office moves or showrooms choose it to keep a refurbishment's waste footprint defensible. In every case the maths is the same: if the floor will come up again soon, it should go back into the production cycle rather than into a container. As pioneers of this material in Catalonia, we have watched it move from a niche request to one of our best-selling products — usually adopted for the sustainability argument, then reordered because the price and performance stand on their own.
Order from anywhere in Europe
We ship across Spain in 24–48 hours and to the rest of Europe with transit times depending on destination. Many of our recyclable-carpet clients are international exhibitors who never visit Barcelona: the entire process — quote, samples, delivery to the venue, optional installation and post-show collection — runs by email in English, with one contact person throughout. Send us your dimensions and colour preference via the contact form and we will reply within one business day with a full quote.
